Service summary

Karma Nirvana is a registered charity which supports victims and survivors of forced marriage and honour based abuse. Established in 1993 by a survivor of forced marriage and honour based violence, the charity has a realistic and non-judgemental approach to all situations involving forced marriage and honour based abuse.

The words Karma Nirvana means 'peace and enlightenment' and it is hoped that the work that the charity does, will help everyone to achieve this including inner peace.

Types of support

Support is available to women, men, couples and single people, no-one is discriminated against. Whether, you require help relocating to escape a forced marriage, a safe place to go to escape abuse, or someone to talk to; Karma Nirvana is on-hand to provide guidance.

The team will be there for you wherever you are and can talk things through with you by a confidential helpline.  They never talk to or engage with your family as they understand the fears when family members become involved. Many of the team are survivors themselves and have practical experience. Therefore, they understand the fears you may have and they will never engage with your family, in order to ensure your protection.
